Vtg Emilio Pucci Print Springmaid Cotton Velour Hand Towel

Pair/set of 2 vintage 1960's Emilio Pucci for Springmaid Designer Collection cotton velour hand towels, in Pucci's iconic mod organic graphics and happy palette of yellow, orange, gold, brown, pink and white. The motif--which is the same for both towels--looks like a surreal floral design with curved leaves emanating from a stem with 3 stems of ringed "flowers." Each 16" x 27" rectangular towel is 100% cotton with a super soft velour front, and a terry feel to the back, and each has a label that reads, "© Springs Mills Inc." The towels were part of a collection launched in the fall of 1967, the first collection Pucci did for Springmaid. Based on a little research on the labels of comparable towels still in their packages, the collection was unique as it featured: "Rolled Italian hems, a fashion innovation. Preshrunk: average residual shrinkage 2%. Sheared surface and colorful finishing result in a lovely “hand” or feel.Color extends right to the edges to preserve the total beauty of the Pucci Print. Design copyrighted." Made in U.S.A. The 2 towels have obvious flaws commensurate with age and use: one is puckered and shrunken unevenly, and it has a bit of fraying on the back side that is non-structural/doesn't go to the other side—see photo. The other has a run through the width at the bottom third of the towel and has some discoloration (perhaps bleach spots) on the yellow edges of the towel--see photos. All told, they are both gorgeous (better looking in real life,) great for Pucci fans and collectors, and will be a happy conversation piece in your guest bathroom.
